Welcome to Dubuque Pediatric Dentistry!
We are a dental office specializing in the care of children, adolescents, teens, and individuals with special health care needs. We understand that every child's needs are different, as each child is a unique person! That's why our approach is customized to what each patient needs from us.
Our philosophy is that every child has a right to safe, quality, enjoyable dental care. We also firmly believe that individuals who start with positive dental experiences as children are more likely to be regular dental patients into adulthood. Our goal is to build a lifelong pattern of good oral habits and health.
It is also important to us that you the parent are involved in your child's dental experience in the way that makes you most comfortable. There is no greater resource in getting to know your child than you! We work with you and your child to make sure that everyone is on the same team and working toward the same goal!

Dr. Steven M. Leifker, DDS
Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry
Dr. Steve is a specialty-trained pediatric dentist who completed both his dental school education and residency training at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Through research and continued education, he is keeping up to date with the latest advances in his field. Dr. Steve also successfully completed the rigorous process of becoming board certified in 2015. This means that he was put to the test in order to ensure that his understanding of oral health care for children was at the level required to provide the highest quality care for your children.
Dr. Steve completed an award winning research project regarding access to care for Iowa’s children, which was named Best Research Project in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Iowa. This project was presented in Boston, MA at the national American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry annual session.
When not in the clinic, he enjoys teaching, lecturing, and reaching out in the community. He has delivered lectures to his colleagues at various venues including dental society meetings, and he is an adjunct professor in the department of pediatric dentistry at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Steve was born and raised in Dubuque, so investing in this community through children's oral health is very fulfilling. He and his wife Katie, also from Dubuque, were high school sweethearts at Hempstead High School. Now busy parents, they enjoy trying to keep up with their two young children. This gives Dr. Steve lots of practice that he uses daily in the office!
